How To Start A Novel

Breathe in 1…2…3… You’re staring at an empty page, it’s blank. Nothing but an abyss to suck you into the greatest story of all time or an invisible chain that is about to be tied around your ankles to keep you at the desk forever.

Honestly, it’s up to you which outcome it is. You are the writer, the creator. There is no need to fear the empty page because no matter how much bullshit comes out onto that page, there is always editing that can be done. Lucky you.

But how do you start? I like ot pick up a notebook and a pencil and write down all my random thoughts that are even remotely to do with my story and let my mind run wild. When I’m ready I’ll sit down at my computer and write the name of my MC. Then I’ll write a sentence. Something like “Carol went to the bathroom.”

Now it’s no longer an empty page and the story has started.

But in actual fact the best advice I can give you is to pick up a pen. That’s the best way to start.
